Embedding Australia Indigenous perspectives within the classroom

OBJECTIVE

The Portfolio of Resources interactive website, offers the exemplary teacher, a few approaches to be utilised within the early adolescent classroom, incorporating cultural diverse Aboriginal inclusive pedagogy, conducive to participation by Aboriginal students.  Multi-literate and multi-intelligent exemplary teachers apply the Competency Framework for Teachers Standards dimensions and phases, utilising teaching strategies to include Aboriginal perspective within the classroom community.

The Portfolio of Resources interactive website enhances professional development of the  exemplary middle school teacher, ways to be inclusive of Aboriginal Perspective in the curriculum outcomes within Knowledge and Understanding, fulfilling the Teacher Competency Standards for Phase 1 Dimension 1 &  3, Phase 2 Dimension 1 & 3 and Phase 3 Dimension 1 & 3

OBJECTIVE  1
Focus on Competency Framework For Teachers Standards dimensions and phases.
Teacher Competency Standards for Phase 1
  • Dimension 1 – Engage students in purposeful and appropriate learning experiences
  • Dimension 3 – Reflect critically upon professional experiences in order to enhance Professional effectiveness
Teacher Competency Standards for Phase 2
  • Dimension 1 – Cater for diverse student learning styles and needs through consistent application of a wide range of teaching strategies
  • Dimension 3 – Contribute to the development of a learning community

  • Dimension 1 – Use exemplary teaching strategies and techniques that meet the needs of individual students, groups and/or classes of students in a highly responsive and inclusive manner

OBJECTIVE  2

Identify multi-literacy resources to include Aboriginal perspective within the classroom community within the curriculum outcomes:

  • Ethnography of Aboriginal – using multi-literacies pedagogy and the knowledge process
  • Critical Framing for Aboriginals

  • Outdoors education practical excursions into the environment with Aboriginal (mentor) guide, learning bush survival skills
  • Survival strategies-shelter in heat of day/movement, finding water
  • Bush foods-food pyramid
  • Bush medicines and treatments

  • Life style/prevention of ill health/self responsibility
